Deepen your relationship with Portland’s wild pollinators
This is more than a bee installation — it’s an invitation into relationship.
The Native Bee Stewardship Program is a simple, season-long experience designed to connect you with the wild pollinators that make Portland bloom. Through guided installation, education, and care, we bring native bees like Mason Bees and Leafcutter Bees right to your home — helping your garden thrive, your fruit trees yield abundantly, and your corner of the city come alive with pollinator life!
Your participation supports the restoration of native ecosystems in our urban landscapes, creating ripples of ecological health, beauty, and resilience across Portland’s neighborhoods.

A 1:1 guided walkthrough of your property to determine the ideal bee house placement, ensuring access to food, sunlight, and habitat needs for your bees. You’ll receive expert recommendations to enhance your habitat for pollinators and a custom.
Healthy, bioregionally adapted bees from our trusted partners at Crown Bees, selected seasonally for your program timing and delivered with consideration for the weather:
A beautifully hand crafted cedar bee house, made in the USA and installed with precision for optimal bee health and success.
Clean, natural nesting reeds, plus a protective bird guard to ensure your bees stay safe through the season.
At the end of the season, we return to collect filled nesting reeds and safely store them for winter hibernation. Your bee house is cleaned and prepped for next spring’s cycle.
Each participant receives a complimentary copy of this beloved guide to deepen your knowledge of native bees and their care.
Join us in the fall for a hands-on cocoon harvesting demo, community storytelling, and ecological learning. It’s our way of celebrating another season of collective stewardship.
Sign up before March 1st and receive free admission to our Spring Native Beekeeping Workshop — a deep dive into pollinator ecology and hands-on learning.

"Upon finding out that my beautiful garden wasn’t feeding insects, I pulled out all the plants in the sunniest area to make room for a useful garden for pollinators and other insects. Although an experienced gardener, I had no idea how to make sure that I was growing plants that would sustain life through the growing season and have the right combination of nectar and pollen. Then one day I saw Carly’s card at a local nursery. I knew immediately that I had found the help I was looking for.
Carly placed a bee house and has supplied two seasons mason and leaf cutter bees. She then collects the bee tubes and gives them the care required. This summer when Carly collected the mason bees she let my 7 year old grandson help... Carly has inspired the next generation.
Design was important to me... As I slowly add on more areas with native plants I ask Carly’s help to envision what native plants could grow
there. Carly is not only knowledgeable, she is warm, charming and I look forward to her visits with pleasure. I highly recommend Carly’s services for bees and plant design."

Stewarding native bees is made simple for participants—but behind the scenes, it requires skilled labor, material sourcing, seasonal timing, and year-round attention. Your investment supports not only the bees, but the hands, heart, and expertise that make this program possible.
Each installation includes:
• A customized site assessment
• Handmade cedar bee houses + high-quality nesting materials
• Bioregionally adapted cocoons from trusted partners
• Two to three seasonal visits (spring, summer, fall)
• Cocoon processing, winter storage, and habitat maintenance
• A community celebration + hands-on harvesting experience
• Educational guidance throughout the season
• And—as an offering of reciprocity—a copy of The Mason Bee Revolution
This work is slow, relational, and ecological. Your support allows me to offer high-quality care, pay myself fairly for the labor of an entire season, and continue building a network of land stewards across Portland.
Payment plans are available at no extra cost. If a payment plan helps make this program accessible, please ask.
Please inquire about accessible pricing or non-traditional exchanges if you are part of BIPOC, Differently-Abled, and LGBTQ+ communities.
